Ideal for video camera-mount use, stereo field recording, interviews and home recording, Audio-Technica's versatile AT8022 stereo condenser offers a compact housing and the pristine sound quality of a live sound field. Its coincident capsule configuration produces an X/Y stereo image in a small housing. The microphone is supplied with two cables for use with either pro or consumer gear. It offers switchable low-frequency roll-off and the convenience of battery or phantom power.
In symmetrical mode the Y-shaped cable has two XLR connectors that allow for phantom powering the microphone. In asymmetrical mode, it requires the use of an AA battery and a 3.5mm mini-jack output connector. The AT8022 is thus the most professional broadcast microphone for use on camera, digital recorder or DSLR.
The AT8022 is equipped with two 21mm diameter capsules mounted in a 180° parallel back-to-back configuration. This proprietary stereo principle developed by Audio-Technica offers a fairly wide stereo angle (instead of two capsules at 90°) which saves space. The AT8022's diaphrahms are doubly embossed: a hexagonal shape and a relief print. By using this manufacturing principle patented by Audio-Technica, the stability of the membrane is thereby increased, and unwanted noise is kept at bay. Robust, all metal construction, ideal for use in professional broadcast environments.
