Ninja Phone is a unique new device that works with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max to combine the benefits of working with high quality mirrorless or DSLR cameras with the flexibility of Apple’s most advanced phone.
Together this gives creators the ability to monitor HDR on the best phone display on the planet, with zero latency from their camera to the iPhone’s screen and access to all of their iPhone’s connectivity to social media platforms, collaborative workflows, and more!
There’s never been a more powerful video production system with such a small footprint.
How does it work?
Ninja Phone encodes to high quality ProRes by taking the 10-bit 4:2:2 image from the camera sensor via HDMI and sending it directly to the iPhone 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max screen where users have full control over the image and access to the powerful suite of Atomos monitoring tools.
The iPhone 15’s amazing retina OLED panel becomes a true HDR monitor when coupled with the Ninja Phone video co-processor. Users get an accurate HDR representation of images captured by any attached HDMI-equipped camera, and can stream, collaborate or record directly from the Ninja Phone app.
The Ninja Phone App
Atomos isn’t new to touchscreens - the original Ninja had one! But iPhones take them to another level, so we’ve written a native iPhone app to control and configure Ninja Phone. We’ve made it work the way you’ll want to use it - so if you’re shooting vertical 9:16 video, the app goes vertical too. It’s easy to use in either orientation.
It’s slick, responsive, and makes the Ninja Phone and the iPhone feel like they’re a single, integrated device.
Work collaboratively with other video professionals. Start editing while you shoot. Get almost instant approval from clients. Publish to social media within minutes of taking the shot. And even produce multi-camera live TV from anywhere, to anywhere, with Atomos Live Production. Ninja Phone creates new business opportunities by expanding the reach of Atomos solutions to a broader audience.
In a world where content is king, the need for quality has never been greater. Despite everyone having a camera phone in their pocket, creators continue to invest in mirrorless and/or DSLR cameras to deliver professional results. Ninja Phone allows these customers to further improve their creative process, by adding a toolset in an iPhone app format which feels familiar and intuitive and the flexibility to use their iPhone as a monitor as and when they need to.
This small and lightweight device has the potential to make a big impact on the content captured and workflows controlled by a wide range of filmmakers, videographers and content creators.
Incredible Image Quality. HDR Monitoring
Ninja Phone’s 10-bit HDR pathway offers incredible image quality to users with over a billion more colors than 8-bit video, and twice the spatial color resolution. HDR monitoring allows creators to visualize their content with unparalleled fidelity – a true “see what you see” experience.
Seamless connectivity
Whether streaming to social media, uploading proxies to a C2C workflow or going live, it’s never been easier to stay connected from an Atomos device.
Endless possibilities / Unlimited Potential
An app that knows whether you’re shooting in landscape or portrait. The full suite of Atomos monitoring tools. Control over your recording format and full connected flexibility. Ninja Phone has a solution for every workflow.
Lightweight
Ninja Phone is a super-light 94 grams. Combined with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it’s an incredibly skinny 334 grams.
10-bit, 4:2:2 pipeline
Professionals demand 10-bit, because it shows accurate colors and removes contours between similar colors - so a blue sky looks real, and not like a painting-by-numbers picture. With 8-bit 4:2:0, you’re throwing away the subtlety and nuance, often leaving visible steps. You can’t repair that. We solve this problem by not causing it in the first place.
Latest chip technology
AtomIC 5, the next generation of Atomos silicon that allows for low power consumption and silent operation. The new chip also has exceptional USB-C connectivity.
Recording flexibility
Record ProRes master files and H.265 proxies for full quality or encode 10-bit H.265 only from the Ninja Phone for the simplest, fastest workflows. The choice of 10-bit ProRes and/or 10-bit H.265 is yours.
