Heat signatures travel through fog, dust, total darkness and light vegetation, which is what thermal monoculars exploit to make subjects visible where the human eye and traditional optics cannot see them. Sensor resolutions cover 256x192, 384x288 and 640x480 microbolometer arrays, with refresh rates up to 50Hz for moving subjects.
