Creative power with real intelligence
The Canon EOS RP puts the power of full-frame mirrorless into a small, lightweight EOS R series body, opening up exciting creative possibilities for you to elevate your photography to the next level.
Accessible to Everyone
See how the Canon EOS RP performs in the hands of enthusiasts and discover how they use the benefits of full-frame mirrorless plus EF and EF-S lenses to capture images packed with detail and depth.
A lightweight body with a faster, smarter lens mount
The Canon EOS RP is a practical, creative full-frame mirrorless camera with enormous creative potential thanks to the next generation RF lenses. The wide diameter, high communication speed and short back focus of the RF mount is the perfect starting point for your future full-frame system.
A new standard in full-frame image quality
The Canon EOS RP 26.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor works incredibly in low light thanks to a DIGIC 8 processor and in-camera DLO that give superb results direct from camera.
At the heart of the Canon EOS RP is an outstanding full-frame 26.2MP Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor. Delivering a perfect balance of rich, sharp detail and incredibly reliable low light performance, each pixel is used for both imaging and autofocus to ensure supreme sharpness right across the frame. Along with Canon RF lenses, specially designed for the EOS R System, the result is a new standard of imaging designed to enhance and expand your creative vision.
Shoot anywhere, anytime thanks to incredible ISO
Stepping up to a full-frame sensor brings greater control over depth-of-field and gives you the power to capture excellent images in low light. With a maximum ISO of 40,000 it’s possible to shoot without flash and yet still retain detail and colour. The Canon EOS RP makes it easy to change ISO quickly via the lens control ring or customisable dials allowing you to be a much more instinctive photographer.
Faster image processing thanks to DIGIC 8
The DIGIC 8 is Canon’s latest imaging engine, processing images faster than ever and enabling a more responsive and agile operation so you spend less time in post-production and obtain higher image quality straight from camera.
The power of DLO the moment you take the picture
Digital Lens Optimizer (DLO) corrects both optical aberrations and any loss of resolution caused by the camera’s low pass filter by applying an inverse function to each shot to take the image nearer to how the scene appears to the naked eye. This creates detailed, high-quality images with manageable file sizes, providing photographers with maximum image quality and greater flexibility. The Canon EOS RP is able to access lens profile information directly from RF lenses and use it in-camera for real time optimisation as soon as you take the picture.
New levels of image stabilisation
5-axis stabilisation and Dual Sensing IS provide powerful stabilisation for your shots, reducing image shake, allowing you the freedom to create without compromising on quality. This dual system sees the lens and camera working together in real-time for stability (dual sensing) through the communication system in the lens mount.
Shoot RAW and capture more
With 14-bit technology, RAW files from the Canon EOS RP are rich in tonal gradation making for optimum quality images, which can be processed in-camera or through free Canon software such as Digital Photo Professional for PC or Mac, or DPP Express for mobile/smart devices. A Compact RAW (C-RAW) option is offered on the Canon EOS RP too, for space saving with close to no compromise on image quality.
Shoot in a new way
The Canon EOS RP offers a new way of embracing the benefits of full-frame. Shoot with the dedicated range of full-frame RF lenses as well as the wide range of EF and EF-S lenses via adapter without compromising optical performance.
Exceptional optical performance
The RF lenses are specially designed to complement EOS R System cameras and set new standards in resolving power. The secret of their success is the redesigned lens mount, which places the lens at the optimum distance from the sensor. This ingenious design has opened up new opportunities to create a range of EOS RF L-series lenses which offer excellent optical performance, ensuring maximum detail is recorded in the image.
Use your EF or EF-S lenses
As well as RF lenses, you can also use the full range of Canon EF or EF-S lenses on EOS R System cameras with absolutely no loss of optical performance, via a choice of adapters1. These adapters maintain full communication between body and lens but offer greater control, allowing you to keep using your own lenses and explore others in the Canon lens system.
Explore a high range of lighting possibilities
Another benefit of being part of the EOS family is that EOS R System cameras are also compatible with existing Canon accessories including the current full range of Speedlite flashguns and specialist products such as the Macro Ring Lite series. This gives you even more creative options for low-light or creative photography while enjoying the technical benefits of the EOS R System.
EOS handling with no compromise
A comfortable EOS style grip alongside a high resolution Vari-Angle touch screen and OLED electronic viewfinder inspires next generation handling in a lightweight 485g body1.
Take a look into the future
The Canon EOS RP has a 7.5cm/3.0-inch Vari-angle touch screen LCD of 1,040,000 dots that can tilt and twist for new creative angles plus a 0.39 OLED electronic viewfinder of 2.36 million dots with customisable information display helps you to compose and visualise the subject from any angle. A UHS-II card slot gives compatibility with your existing SD cards and provides access to the UHS-II standard allowing faster write speeds and 4K video capture while buttons and dials can be customised for your preferred ways of shooting.
Guiding you to greater creativity
The Canon EOS RP puts you in the driving seat with controls, buttons and a menu system at your fingertips leaving you to concentrate on exceptional compositions. A guided interface, creative scene modes, flexible priority (FV) and manual modes will give you the confidence and help you to take control of your creativity.
Focus anywhere in an instant
Dual Pixel CMOS AF offers an extended AF area as well as the world’s fastest AF speed2 at just 0.05 seconds over 4779 selectable AF positions, plus low light AF down to -5 EV3. Eye AF keeps your portraits sharp while focus bracketing offers maximum depth-of-field right across an image.
Eye-catching portraiture
For portraits that stand out, Eye AF is built into the Canon EOS RP. This Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology helps keep your subject’s eyes in super sharp focus when in Face Detect mode, ensuring pin sharp image quality in your portraits. Eye AF works with the Canon EOS RP in One Shot AF mode, Servo AF mode and Movie Servo AF ensuring both static and moving subjects are captured with their eyes clearly in focus. Touch and drag AF makes it easy to change focus position easily.
Stacked with great depth-of-field
When it’s important to have maximum depth-of-field right across an image such as macro images, focus bracketing can ensure ultimate sharpness. With one press of the shutter button, the Canon EOS RP shoots continuously with the focal distance adjusted automatically from the initial position right through to the background. A composite image is then created through Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software to create one image which is in focus throughout.
Shoot flexibly and connect seamlessly
From using Silent Mode to controlling the camera remotely via Wi-Fi. Capture all the action with up to 5fps with the option to process your images in-camera and share via the Canon Camera Connect app.
Shoot remotely, stay in control
The Canon EOS RP features both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for seamless connectivity to a compatible smart device. Using this technology, it’s possible to shoot and send images directly to a smartphone or use automatic sync for situations where fast transfer is needed. Additionally, the camera can be controlled remotely via the Canon Camera Connect app and through this Wi-Fi connection new creative possibilities are there for the taking, especially when you’re travelling and want to share your work straight away.
Create high quality and super-steady movies
Focus smoothly with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and film steady footage with Movie Digital IS and up to 4K resolution with a range of easy to use and edit codecs. Mic and headphone jacks bring full audio control and the Vari-Angle touch screen LCD gives stability and a clear view of your subject.
